The Jonas Brothers are my #1 favourite boy-band (my other 2 favourites are Hollywood Ending and One Direction). I heard their song ‘Dance Until Tomorrow’ recently, and I LOVED IT (but that’s no surprise… I love almost all their songs! LOL!). If you ever go to a yard sale/thrift store and you come across a CD that has a red background and ‘Jonas Brothers – It’s About Time’ written on it, consider yourself lucky (even if you’re NOT a Jonas fan). That album has been out of print since 2007 (I think…), and it costs hundreds of dollars on websites like eBay, Amazon, etc. (I’m not kidding! Hundreds of dollars for 1 CD that has 11 songs!)! I’m going to be reviewing it today.
Track 1: ‘Please Be Mine’: Oh, my gosh… this song is AWESOME!!! It’s my #1 favourite song on the album, and I created a video of myself singing/playing this song on the piano recently; that’s how much I love the song!
Track 2: ‘What I Go To School For’: This song is my 2nd favourite on the album. Most of the songs on ‘It’s About Time’ are awesome, and most of them aren’t really that great. This one was right in between those 2 options that I listed!
Track 3: ‘Time For Me To Fly’: I don’t know how to describe this song. The lyrics are inspirational (‘I will rise, there won’t be compromise, as I take to the open skies…’), but honestly, it isn’t my favourite song on the album. However, I’m giving this song 5 stars for effort, since this WAS their debut album.
Track 4: ‘Year 3000’: Only 2 words can describe this song: TOTAL AWESOMENESS!!! This was actually one of the first JB songs I heard, and I’ve been a fan of this song ever since! It reminds me of ‘Back To The Future’ (“He told me he built a time machine, like one in a film I’ve seen, yeah…”).
Track 5: ‘One Day At A Time’: I’m not a huge fan of most of the songs on this album, but this song is actually really good! It reminds me of several songs I have on my iPod playlist.
Track 6: ‘6 Minutes’: This song sounds very similar to ‘Time For Me To Fly’ for some reason, and it’s one of my favourite songs (it’s not my favourite song out of all the songs I have on my iPod, but it’s one of my favourite songs from this album). It’s on my ‘summertime playlist’ on my iPod, and with lyrics like, “Down by the shore first weekend of the summer, Gotta take a chance and just ask for her number…”, it’s not hard to explain why it’s on my playlist. Actually, those lyrics that I just mentioned remind me of Carly Rae Jepsen’s hit song, ‘Call Me Maybe’.
Track 7: ‘Mandy’: Honestly, I am not a fan of this song. It’s one of the few songs by the Jonas Brothers that I DON’T like.
Track 8: ‘You Just Don’t Know It’: This song is another one that’s awesome!
Track 9: ‘I Am What I Am’: The moral of this song is simple: ‘Be yourself, and don’t change who you are for anyone’. I’m not a fan of this song, either.
Track 10: ‘Underdog’: This song is OK. With lyrics like, “She’s original, never trying to fit in. She’s got a way to always go against the grain, oh yeah…”, this song gets 5 stars from AKPOV! I think this song describes me, with the lyrics, “She’s original, never trying to fit in…”!
Track 11: ‘7:05’: When I first heard this song, I loved it, but after a while, it got a little bit annoying (only a little bit) I don’t know how to review this song, I guess I’ll just say it was awesome, and give it 4 stars for effort.
Overall, this album wasn’t the best, but I’m trying to remind myself that this isn’t ‘A Little Bit Longer’ that I’m reviewing here… this was their debut album. I’m giving ‘It’s About Time’ 5 stars for effort, and 0.5 extra stars for never giving up through all the challenges that come with being famous! 5.5 stars in total!
