I have recently discovered Britt Nicole’s awesome music. Britt Nicole is a Christian artist, with the style of music you would probably hear on a Top 40 Hits radio station. I recently downloaded all 3 of her albums on my iPod. The album I’m gonna review today is Britt’s debut album, ‘Say It’ (by the way, I recently transferred several CDs that I have onto my iPod, so expect several music reviews in the near future)
‘Say It’ was released in 2007, around the same time that many bands/artists (such as the Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, etc.) became popular. It’s actually a really awesome CD!
Track 1: ‘Holiday’: This song is perfect for summer vacation, or any time where you just need a break from stressful/busy things in your life. It’s a very upbeat song with lyrics like “Work, more work, and somewhere to be, Skip the talk, can’t you just text me, I’m goin’, slow down, I’m on it, I’m going crazy…” and “Take some time and kick back, I’m on chill and relax, Work can wait, yeah, time to play, yeah, I’m away on holiday…”
Track 2: ‘Believe’: 4 words: This. Song. Is. AWESOME!!!! It’s one of the best songs on the album. With lyrics like “I wanna believe, I wanna believe in love again…” and “Wait, wait, wait, there’s somethin’ I’ve gotta say, It’ll take, take, take, just a minute so don’t walk away…”, this song is just really awesome! I don’t know what else to say about it!
Track 3: ‘Set The World On Fire’: “I wanna set the world on fire, until it’s burning bright for you…” Those are the first lyrics in this song. Basically, the song’s message is that you can achieve your dreams no matter what.
Track 4: ‘Sunshine Girl’: When I first heard this song, I thought, “Wow… this sounds a lot like ‘Get Back’ by Demi Lovato!” I’m serious! Britt reminds me of Demi Lovato in this song, and I almost thought she was gonna sing, “I wanna get back, to the old days, when the phone would ring, and I knew it was you…”! That’s how similar the songs sound (look up ‘Sunshine Girl by Britt Nicole’ on YouTube, then look up ‘Get Back by Demi Lovato’ to see the similarities between the 2 songs)! Anyways, ‘Sunshine Girl’ is a very awesome song!
Track 5: ‘Ready’: This song reminds me of several other songs that are on my music playlist. Personally, it reminds me of ‘Unbroken’ by Demi Lovato (why do all these songs remind me of Demi Lovato’s songs???!!!!). It’s one of my favourite songs on the album.
Track 6: ‘You’: I don’t know what to say about this song! It’s awesome!
Track 7: ‘When She Cries’: If you asked me to describe this song in one word, this is what comes to mind: ‘Skyscraper’. That’s right, this song reminds me of Demi Lovato’s hit song, ‘Skyscraper’. It has lyrics like, “Every day’s the same, she fights to find her way. She hurts, she breaks, she hides, and tries to pray. She wonders why, does anyone ever hear her when she cries?”, but it ends on a positive note (“She’ll be just fine. ‘Cause I know He hears her when she cries…”).
Track 8: ‘Good Day’: I’m personally not the biggest fan of this song, but I LOVE Britt’s vocal range throughout the entire track. This song reminds me of some of Miley Cyrus’ songs.
Track 9: ‘Don’t Worry Now’: I. Love. The. Piano. In. This. Song! It’s one of 3 Britt Nicole songs that I learned/want to learn on the piano (the other 2 are ‘Safe’ and ‘All This Time’)!
Track 10: ‘Say It’: There isn’t anything to say about this song. It’s just really awesome!
Track 11: ‘World That Breaks’: (see description for Track 10 above). I’ve noticed that all 3 of Britt Nicole’s albums end with slow songs.
Overall, ‘Say It’ is an awesome CD, that people of all ages will enjoy!
