There’s a new Disney movie coming to theatres soon, called “Frozen”! And, as typical with Disney movies, a famous star usually records one or two songs for the soundtrack 🙂
This is exactly what Demi Lovato has done! She’s come back to where she started, as an actress/singer for Disney Channel, and recorded a new song for the “Frozen” movie soundtrack! This song is called “Let It Go”, and it’s honestly one of the best songs I’ve ever heard this fall (next to One Direction’s new song, of course). The ballad is originally performed in the film by Idina Menzel, but Demi recorded a cover of the song. The production in “Let It Go” is mainly guitar and drums, and Demi delivers strong vocals and emotion in the lyrics. This is the second time I remember her recording a song for a Disney movie (NOT including the Camp Rock films)… the first song was “Gift of a Friend” for the 2009 movie, “Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure”.
The music video, which debuted last week, includes footage from the previously-mentioned Disney movie. It opens with Demi (still with blond hair) wearing black clothes and looking like a total rock star (in my opinion, anyways). She looks kinda sullen in a mansion filled with piles of unread books, papers strewn about and the furniture unused and covered up. Demi makes her way through the estate, even sitting at the piano, playing with some of the treasures. With every room Demi goes through, it seems she begins to feel more empowered. This all happens while scenes from “Frozen” are included throughout.
By the end of the video, Demi is a new woman, no longer wearing dark-colored clothes. She re-emerges in all white and the mansion is full of sunlight. The empowering message of the song and video definitely pays homage to the Disney movie.
What do you think of Demi’s new song and music video? Do you like it? Is there anything that really stood out to you in this video? Remember, “Frozen” hits theatres November 27th 🙂
