Music Review: “Chains” (CD Single)

NICK JONAS HAS RELEASED A NEW SONG!!!!!!! YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!! And he recently signed a new record deal with Island Records.

I know I’m probably the only one who’s excited about this (aside from the small number of fans who didn’t leave when the Jonas Brothers broke up in October, and maybe a few of the teen gossip sites). I’ve been waiting for this moment for the longest time, because all this time I’ve been thinking, this is the perfect way to get more traffic on my blog. Write about a new song when it’s released, and you’ll get a ton of page-views. Plus, I just wanted to review this song, because it’s awesome.

So, how did I find out about this? Well, as soon as I logged on to Twitter, my news feed had a whole bunch of posts with the hashtag Chains (which is the title of the song). I stared at the screen for a moment, then finally realized what was happening. That for the first time in what-seems-like forever, a member from one of my favourite bands has released a new song. That we’re getting closer to hearing the collab between Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas…

But let’s save that for another review, ok?

Moving on… Chains is the first single off of Nick’s upcoming 3rd solo album. Yes, I did say it’s his third solo album. (If you count the album he released in 2004, then Who I Am [feat. The Administration] in 2010) Unlike some of the songs from Who I Am, I think this song will actually be played on Top 40 radio stations. It has the potential to become a huge pop hit.

This song is very awesome. It has inspirational lyrics about “breaking free from the chains,” a good beat, and it sounds very different from NJ&TA’s Who I Am album (which is a good thing).

Listen to the song below, and let me know what you think 🙂
