May / June Favorites 2015

Spring is here, and summer vacation is just around the corner! Some of the highlights of my summer will include:

1) Finishing my first year of high school

2) Seeing Ed Sheeran in concert for the second time (but this time, he won’t be opening for Taylor Swift on tour 😉 )

3) Going to a youth conference in the city next week!

4) Spending time with my family

I will also be counting down the days until October 14th, which is when I’m seeing Kelly Clarkson and Nick Jonas in concert! (I know, I’m getting excited for the concert early. LOL!)

But in the meantime, I thought I’d share some of the makeup/music/trends I’ve been loving this month! (And I will be adding more to the list throughout the next two months as well)

Makeup:

Foundation/Concealer/Powder/Blush:

My favorite foundation this month isn’t really a foundation– it’s a BB cream. More specifically, it’s the Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream with SPF 30 (a must-have for this awesome spring weather). The formula is very sheer, and it doesn’t offer a lot of coverage, but it’s really nice if you don’t want all that coverage during the spring and summer months.

I have also been loving the Rimmel Match Perfection concealer. Not only does it conceal/cover dark circles, blemishes, etc., but it acts as a highlighter as well. To set the foundation and concealer, I really like the Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder. I had never tried it until a couple weeks ago, but all the reviews said it was amazing– so I bought it as a replacement for the Maybelline Dream Matte pressed powder. Two words: LOVE. IT.

A new product that I tried recently, actually isn’t new after all. I found the Physicians Formula Matchmaker pH-powered blush at Marshall’s, and thought it was pretty cool how the color changed to match your pH level.

Eyes:

I know I’ve talked about this product a lot, but– even though it’s been nearly 4 months since I first got it– I still love the Essence Cosmetics “How To Make Nude Eyes” palette. Neutral eyeshadow colors are my favorite, because I find that they match everything. And these particular eyeshadows are such good quality, too! (In other words, it’s the perfect, less-expensive duplicate for the Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow palettes)

The past couple months, I’ve been experimenting with my makeup look, and that also means taking on the challenge of liquid eyeliner. In February, Essence Cosmetics sent me their Waterproof Pen Eyeliner as part of a contest prize… and while I absolutely love it, I have to admit it’s a challenge to apply. But until earlier this month, I kept using the eyeliner because I appreciate that they sent it to me (along with lots of other makeup). I went to Sephora and bought the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (in the shade Perversion). It’s something that I can apply with or without an angled eyeliner brush, depending on how dramatic I want my eye makeup to be.

I’ve also rediscovered a classic makeup product: Maybelline Great Lash mascara. It was one of the first mascaras I bought when I started wearing makeup, and it’s one of the only mascaras that actually works for me. I always return to this mascara during the spring and summer, because it gives my lashes a more natural look.

Lips:

I’ve been loving two specific (and totally random) lip colors recently: light pink and dark red. Total opposites, yet I’m obsessed with both colors this season. I guess it’s because I’m starting to become more confident wearing dramatic lip colors, and I’m experimenting with my look a bit more. My favorite lip products this month are:

Rimmel Lasting Finish Color Rush Intense Color Balm (in the shade Give Me A Cuddle)

CoverGirl LipPerfection Jumbo Gloss Balm (in the shade Scarlet Twist)

L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Last Lipcolor (in the shade Red Infallible)

Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain (in the shade Sweetheart Valentine)

eos Lip Balm in Strawberry Sorbet (the first EOS lip balm I ever tried) and Summer Fruit (one that I bought last year, but never used until now)

Nail Polish:

Now that spring is here (and summer, in a few months), I’ve been loving bright-colored nail polish. Some of my favorites include:

E.L.F. Beach Party Nail Polish set (with the colors: Coral Dream, Flirty Fuchsia, and Smokin’ Hot)

Serial Shopper by Essie

Hair:

I’ve been a fan of OGX Beauty for a long time, so it’s no surprise that they made it onto my favorites list again! 🙂

OGX Vitamin B5 Shampoo and Conditioner

TV Shows:

Since summer is here, it means a lot of our favorite TV shows are ending, with no guarantees that they’ll return in the fall! But a few of them are still on the air currently.

The Voice (which aired the 2-part Season Finale on May 18th and 19th)

Finding Carter (I love this show so much. It just keeps getting more dramatic every episode! MTV says they’re already at the mid-season point for Carter, so it’s unclear how much longer it will be until the season ends. UPDATE: The summer finale of Carter was June 16th. MTV has confirmed that the show will return in October)

Movies:

Pitch Perfect 2 (even though I’m not a huge fan of the original Pitch Perfect movie, I think the sequel is much better. And I’m so impressed with Anna Kendrick’s talent in the singing and acting department!)

Inside Out

Books:

To Kill A Mockingbird (Harper Lee)

Music:

This might be a huge surprise, considering I’m not a huge fan of musicals, but I recently heard some of the tracks from the Finding Neverland album, and have been loving it ever since. It’s a compilation of songs from the Broadway musical, covered by some of today’s most popular and influential music artists (including Christina Aguilera, Nick Jonas, Kiesza, Christina Perri, John Legend, and Rita Ora). The album won’t be released until June 9th, but is currently available for pre-order on iTunes.

The Unmaking – Nichole Nordeman

Black & White Heart – ANDEE (I absolutely love the title track, though all the songs are amazing)

King – Years & Years

Good Thing – Sage The Gemini (featuring Nick Jonas)

Nothin’ Like You – Dan & Shay

Makeup To Mud” – Olivia Rose

Summer Rain – Matthew Morrison

Gone – Kelly Clarkson (not the same as “Already Gone“; this is a track from her 2004 sophomore album, Breakaway)

In The End – Nick Jonas & The Administration

Should’ve Been Us – Tori Kelly

Apps:

Instagram

Spotify

Pinterest

Food:

Caramel Frappucino from Starbucks

Watermelon

Calypso Sweet Cherry Limeade

Clothing:

Tank tops

Graphic t-shirts (especially if they have band logos on them, like Guns N’ Roses. Very rock-and-roll 😉 )

Distressed jeans/shorts

One cross necklace 🙂 (I actually got a cross necklace for my birthday a couple months ago, and I wear it every day)

Cute dresses (especially if they’re floral print)

Misc.:

The 2015 Billboard Music Awards (featuring performances by ED SHEERAN, KELLY CLARKSON, AND NICK JONAS… along with more extremely talented artists/bands!)

That’s everything I’ve been loving this month, and like always, I would like to hear what your favorites are! Feel free to leave a comment on here or on Twitter (@officialannamarier and @akidspov). 🙂
